Uncle Mark visits and Ethan takes him on an Aardvark hunt

“We’re going on an Aardvark hunt, we’re going to catch a big one” and the two fearless adventurers, protected by their firefighter hats and carrying shopping baskets and snakes, set off through the house to find the fearsome Aardvarks that lurked in the back halls. Nephew Ethan, along with his sidekick Uncle Mark, stormed the […]

Ethan and Autumn’s Top Five Favorite Children’s Songs

Music. We love it. A lot! Our radio constantly pours music throughout every corner of our house. As a result we have two children who truly love to listen, watch, and dance to music. Whereas Autumn is just learning how to interact with it, Ethan loves to listen and dance around the house to his […]

October in Review: The Month of the Heffalump

Heffalump! What the? Okay if you don’t have kids you probably don’t have any idea what a Heffalump is. I didn’t either until earlier in October I randomly selected for Ethan Pooh’s Heffalump Movie from Netflix. That’s all it took. He watched it, laughed a lot, smiled, never ate his popcorn because he was glued […]

Rock Out Ethan-jon! [VIDEO]

Ethan has been jamming on the drums since the tender age of 10 months old. He loves to grab his little drum sticks, sit on the drum throne, and pound the skins as any 3 year old does. Right? Here’s a little taste of his session from last weekend. I appreciate the intensity he portrays […]

Salmon Days & Family Farms

We welcomed the month of October with a bang! We headed south on Saturday for the Issaquah Salmon Days Festival in beautiful Issaquah. We followed that up with the Festival of Family Farms in Skagit County on Sunday. Both days offered some of the best reasons of why we love the Seattle area.

September in Review

September 2010 has come and gone. Up here in Seattle it was a beautiful month to be outdoors and enjoying the natural resources that this area has to offer. Its’ claimed this was the coolest September on record since Eisenhower was in office (or something like that), but we wouldn’t know since we’ve been here […]

Fun with Glow Sticks

Ethan has officially been introduced to glow sticks! I found a stock pile of them last weekend in my workshop. They were saved from when I was a wildland firefighter and I carried a handful in my line gear for night operations. But those days have passed and they’ve collected dust for the last 7 […]

Chicago.

Laura and Autumn had the pleasure to join me on a business trip to Chicago last week. After being with FEMA for a little over year, spending 50 nights on the road, and traveling almost 40,000+ air miles, it was nice to have family come along for the ride. Chicago was our destination because the annual […]

Facebook and You

After taking some time away from Facebook a couple months ago (and coming back), I realized some interesting trends from Facebook users. Basically, email is nonexistent for personal use, birthdays don’t exist outside of Facebook, and no one comments on other websites outside of Facebook. Do these trends demonstrate the new norm in today’s society, […]
