It’s that time of the year again where we go visit the annual Northwest Folklife Festival at the Seattle Center. We attended the Monday festivities and spent most of our time listening to children’s musicians at one of the stages. We had the opportunity to catch Caspar Babypants, The Not-Its, and more.
The kids were very excited to come to the festival. In fact, next time we won’t tell Autumn where we are going until she is in the car. We told her the night before and, well, she was coming out of her room every five minutes saying “Babypants” because she truly loves Caspar Babypants’ music. After an hour or so of this nonsense she finally fell asleep. Continue reading “Caspar Babypants and others at the Northwest Folklife Festival [Video]”
Ethan and Autumn’s cousins, Kaitlyn and Emily, came for a visit this evening. All day Ethan kept asking when his cousins would be here. We started at about 7 hours or so and worked our way down. When they finally arrived he screamed out loud in excitement, threw the front door open, and ran out to greet them. Needless to say they had a great time playing in the dirt, swinging, throwing the ball for Skylee, playing in the dirt, going down the slide, playing in the dirt, and playing in the dirt. There’s a theme going on here.
After their baths Ethan and Kaitlyn sat down for music time. This is the first time both had cousins were able to play in the same “band”. They were very cute and had a lot of fun while performing.
Music. We love it. A lot! Our radio constantly pours music throughout every corner of our house. As a result we have two children who truly love to listen, watch, and dance to music. Whereas Autumn is just learning how to interact with it, Ethan loves to listen and dance around the house to his favorite songs. We thought we’d share a list of those songs that get their toes tappin’, feet stompin’, hands clappin’, and butt shakin’. Continue reading “Ethan and Autumn’s Top Five Favorite Children’s Songs”
Ethan has been jamming on the drums since the tender age of 10 months old. He loves to grab his little drum sticks, sit on the drum throne, and pound the skins as any 3 year old does. Right? Here’s a little taste of his session from last weekend. I appreciate the intensity he portrays as he pounds on the drums, as well as the ability to sing/yell/whatever as he drums.
We’re fans of the Dixie Chicks older style of music, particularly their last album “Home”, but after hearing the new single, we are sure this may be their best yet. You may not like their style but be reassured this isn’t country. With the help of producer Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond) they told the country genre to f**k off and drove a new path to success.
Click here to view the video for their latest single, “Not Ready To Make Nice“. The song dicusses the controversy that revolved around the band saying, “Just so you know, we’re ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas” during the Iraq War.
